We're a Curious Bunch
As a creative agency we get to see the world through the eyes of hundreds of businesses and organisations. Be it by helping our clients to understand and express themselves through their brand or by connecting with their audience on a daily basis.
It all starts though by simply being curious...

Lovely to be able to utilise Tamsin Rees’ illustrations for the @changingrelations 6 part publication set for ‘Sometimes it Hurts’. They give a voice to young people and a language to themes that are difficult and sensitive to approach (such as neglect, divorce, domestic abuse and unhealthy, controlling behaviours, both within families and within young people’s own romantic relationships). Visit changingrelations.co.uk/our-work/sometimes-it-hurts to discover more about their incredible and important work.
The office was treated to this indulgently rich almond flour chocolate cake made by Gary’s mum Jean to celebrate his birthday last week. I’ve been assured it was absolutely delicious and was speedily devoured by the C12 team, I (Melissa) am gutted to have missed out on Jean’s baking due to being off poorly! Also although there was candles and glasses of bubbly, this was the only photo taken in my absence! A belated happy birthday to our @grobsonuk 🎂
We enjoyed a tour of Durham Cathedral and Museum yesterday, seeing some of our boards in situ and hearing some really lovely feedback on the Family Activity Booklet. Plus we got to see the amazing Cathedral staff in action saving a little bat which a visitor had spotted huddled in a corner on the floor. They are trained on how to handle the little creatures, giving them water to drink and working closely with the Durham Bat Group to nurse them back to health before their release!
We’ve had budding designer Ben McDonagh in this week for his work experience. We set him on a recent ‘Grow and Glow Club’ brief, researching and designing a brand identity and brand extensions for a made up company ‘The Pizza Factory’. We’re looking forward to touching base next month to see how his design work progresses. (PS thank you Ben for the abundance of chocolates!)
James has taken Charlie Proud under his wing this week. Cups of tea in hand, they’ve been delving into the wonderful world of web development and coding. Gifting the team a bottle of our favourite Jam Shed and some tasty chocolates, we reckon he’s welcome back any time. It’s been a pleasure Charlie!
“What a wonderful day!
Curious12 were honoured to attend our Senior Designer Melissa’s wedding to Sam Monkhouse.
Everything was perfect, from church through to the reception at a marquee at the family farm.
The hospitality was amazing, we were made to feel so welcome by family and friends.
So grateful to be able to share this wonderful moment.
Scrubs up well like!”
…sharing a few photos of the day, showcasing some of their creative creations!
‘Head to Ushaw between 1 April – 25 June for French opulence and splendour in our new exhibition The Power of Image: Versailles and the Sun King.
The exhibition explores Louis XIV’s relationship with Versailles through the Cabinet du Roi, the series of printed engravings produced to reflect the glory of his reign. In addition to a display of the rare original volumes, all produced in the second half of the seventeenth century, the exhibition features over 100 of the prints, reproduced and enlarged to show their rich details.’
Thebluebirdboutique.co.uk has been up and running for just over a week now. Swipe through to see some of our favourite products Rebecca has available, adoring the amount of fringe within this product range 🙌🏼. We’re thrilled to hear how well the branding and website for this new venture have been received. @bluebirdboutiqueuk
The @theparkheadhotel website was a joy to work on, we’re amazed at the transformation and cannot wait to pop round for a wholesome C12 lunch when they open up at the beginning of Feb! Having thoroughly browsed their online menu, we’re eyeing up the walled garden soup, blackened half roast chicken and sticky toffee pudding. 🤤
Super excited to be heading to Waterstones in Newcastle this evening to watch a panel discussion celebrating the launch of @lucyenichol ‘s brand new book ‘Don’t Call Me Snowflake’. It’s a fascinating deep dive into misconceptions and negativity surrounding mental health. Lucy’s book is powerful, informative and beautifully written in her signature down-to-earth, open, conversational style. 🙌🏼 We couldn’t recommend this fabulous read enough.
Make sure to tune in to The One Show at 7pm this evening for the City of Culture 2025 announcement. We've our fingers and toes crossed for Durham and are so proud to work with the many fantastic local businesses and projects which would make County Durham a worthy winner! From The Bowes Museum and The Auckland Project to Ushaw and Durham University, our county is truly a fantastic place to call home.
We've been fortunate enough to work with Durham University and DCC on their fantastic 'Triple A' resource. It is currently featuring on the homepage.
It is designed to raise awareness and understanding of a set of difficulties that impact many children in our schools – difficulties with Attention, Arousal and Anxiety.
The resource is intended primarily for educational professionals, for example teachers, teaching assistants, SENCOs, and school leaders. It may also be useful for the broader school staff (administrative, canteen, caretakers). Durham University hope the resource will be helpful for thinking about primary and secondary school children.
‘This is the spirit of Northumberland – AdGefrin Visitor Experience and Whisky Distillery’ How gorgeous are these behind the scenes production pics? We’ve thoroughly enjoyed working with @adgefrin (🥃) and @theliquoricepress (Foiling & Print & Embossing & Photo Credit 🙌🏻 📷) to create the first Corenkyn membership packs.
